Exeter Tenants Homepage

A brief history of the website

The need for a tenants website was highlighted in ‘EXACT’ the review of the ‘Tenants Compact’.

Initially the former Tenant and Leaseholder Consultation Group wanted a tenants web page as part of the official Council website.

Because of the constraints this would have imposed it was decided to investigate a website specifically for Exeter City Council tenants.

The group decided that the site should be a place where tenants can visit to find useful information and publications, find out news and access minutes for the consultation group meetings.

It should also house websites for the various Tenant and Resident Associations (T&RA’s) around the city. This would enable T&RA’s:

  • to see what issues are being discussed at other area meetings
  • to see what efforts are being made to tackle them and how successful these are
  • to share good practice
  • to share fundraising ideas, and
  • generally give each other support.

It should also enable individual tenants to see what areas the T&RA’s cover, when and where they meet and how to contact them to raise issues or attend meetings.

Where T&RA's have access to the site they are responsible for inputting their own information into their own particular site. Training was arranged to enable three allotted committee members from each T&RA to do this.

There is information included in the site to help people form T&RA’s in their own areas. If more T&RA’s are formed there is the scope to expand this site in order to allow the new associations to have their own area within this website.

By filling in the feedback form visitors to the site can also put forward a point of view either in praise of or critical of the council services they receive or ask a question.
